History

Kıvanç Tekstil, originally established as Kıvanç Ticaret,

was founded by Hacı Mustafa Kıvanç in the early 1950’s.

  • 1946
    Hacı Mustafa Kıvanç started to work as a prentice quilt maker.
  • 1950's
    For several years, Kıvanç consolidated his experiences with perseverance and hard work, then decided to start his family business in early 50’s and opened a small store in downtown Sivas.
  • 1968
    Kıvanç Family has expanded through years and moved their family business to Adana. Hacı Mustafa Kıvanç continued to grow his business with cotton and fabric trade. As his sons Ziya, Zeki, Zafer, Mehmet and Fatih Kıvanç have grown and helped to develop their family business, since then Kıvanç Tekstil became a well-known yarn and fabric trader of Southern Turkey.
  • 1990's
    In early 90’s, Open End Spun Yarn mill was founded in Çukurova, Adana. Kıvanç Tekstil, was one of the first yarn manufacturers that operated Open End mills in Adana.
  • 2006
    With fundamental investments to facilities by developing weaving and finishing mills in 2006, Kıvanç had completed its integration process and became a well-known woven fabric producer in Turkey.
  • 2012
    Kıvanç Tekstil was accepted to Turquality-Brand Support Programme which has increased company’s profile significantly through improving international marketing and sales channels, production capacity was multiplied by 4 times.
  • 2014
    NYTRO & KIVANÇ was born in September 2014 as a result of the acquisition of Italian company Nytro by Kıvanç Tekstil.
  • 2016
    Leading local textile industry at 15th place, Kıvanç Tekstil is the 312nd biggest company of Turkey for export trade announced by Turkish Exporters Assembly. At the same time Kıvanç Tekstil ranked #533 among Turkey’s Top Industrial Enterprises by Istanbul Chamber of Industry in 2016.
  • 2017
    In July 2017, Kıvanç Tekstil realized a significant milestone in line with its goals of sustainability, environmental awareness, competitiveness, and high value-added production by establishing its first Design Center in Adana with the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Important certification processes were completed in line with our sustainable production objectives. With the Better Cotton (BCI), OEKO-TEX®, and Wool Blend Performance certificates, we adopted an environmentally friendly and safe production approach. In 2017, the first step was taken towards global standards in traceability and transparency in the supply chain by joining the Gateway platform.
  • 2019
    With participation in the TURQUALITY® program, a strategic threshold was crossed in the institutionalization and branding processes. In the same year, compliance with international standards was achieved in the fields of quality, environment, energy, information security, and carbon management with the acquisition of ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 9001, ISO 14064-1, and ISO 27001 certificates.
  • 2021
    The sustainable production approach was strengthened, and international assurance was achieved in environmental and social compliance areas with FSC® (Forests for All Forever), Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Organic Blended Content Standard, Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP), and Higg Index Verifier Body membership.
  • 2022
    The use of renewable energy was certified with the I-REC Standard, while the preference for mulesing-free wool strengthened the animal welfare-oriented production approach.
  • 2023
    The Sustainability Department was established. With the RWS certificate, responsible wool sourcing was adopted, and the first corporate greenhouse gas inventory was prepared within the scope of ISO 14064-1 standard, marking an important step towards monitoring our climate impacts.
  • 2024
    With the acquisition of the ISO 14046 Water Footprint certificate, environmental responsibility in water management was documented. In the same year, Kıvanç Academy was established, bringing a new structure to institutional development and knowledge sharing. The sustainability report preparation process was initiated, reinforcing the culture of transparent reporting.
